Dovetail Games

I joined Dovetail Games as an Associate Technical Designer in June of 2020 working alongside the Train Simulator World 2 Team;
since, I have been promoted to Technical Designer (Level 2) and have been involved in a wide variety of TSW2 DLC releases.
My most noteable contributions have been that of South Eastern Highspeed, BR Class 101 Loco Add-on, and Boston - Providence.

My role as Technical Designer at Dovetail has me involved in the creation and implementation of the systems that are fitted
on the Rolling Stock that we produce for each DLC; striving for accuracy, consistancy, and improvement in each new DLC pack.
I work with all disciplines within the TSW2 team to ensure that we keep these standards high and take on all community feedback
to allow for an immersive and enjoyable experience for our players.

South Eastern Highspeed - Trainbow Livery

I was the designer tasked with creating and implementing the functionality for our South Eastern Highspeed BR395 Javelin
locomotive. The Locomotive itself was a great experince both creating it functionally and playing it on route. The drivers
cab is extensive and has many levers and switches which perform a variety of tasks; I was also able to create the Locos on
board digital screen system making the UMG assets myself to get the correct detail of the real Javelin, and this Loco also
featured a switching system for it's power supply from Third Rail DC to Overhead AC which I implemented with features provided
by the engineering team.

I also envisioned the #Trainbow livery used on the Javelin model 012; I thought this would both be a nod to our LGBTQ+ community
and also a fun easter egg that the community as a whole could engage in. I presented the idea at a company meeting which was
greenlit by producers and liscencing; and from there I worked with the liscencing team to communiate with Southern Rail
who aggreed to it's use, and with the Loco Art team for the design and implementation of the livery.
This was met with a positive response from the TSW2 community; applauding the use of LGBTQ+ content in the simulation, and forums and
Reddit posts of the community sharing their experiences finding the Trainbow for the first time.

As a result this has allowed us to work with Medway Council, Dovetail's local council, in implementing a 'Vote Medway City of Culture 2025' livery.

Passenger Information System

I was tasked with updating our previous On Board Passenger Information Systems that would be used accross our range of locomotives
that implement this feature. Previously the PIS requred a lot of setup and human input on our part in order to contain the correct
service information. With a new feature, implemented by our engineering team, we are now able to pull this ifnormation directly from
the service on the route.

This meant that I now had to design a system in order to pull the required information, have means to adjust this information manually,
and communicate this information thoughout the locomotive that contained the system. In the end, this is exactly what I had achieved;
My system had one component, housed the cab of the locomotive, which pulled all the required information using it's connected service and
a display component used for gathering this information and displaying it down the train.
Players also have the ability to manually change this information when they please; which can be achieved on both radio and digital displays
as the information I gather from the Systems can be displayed however the real life locototive allows it to be.
